Community rules
Last updated: 22 October 2026
Samewae introduces people making the same journey. Every member agrees to these rules when they join. They exist so that everyone, including parents and first-time travellers, can meet a stranger on a journey and feel safe doing it.
In an emergency, call 112, or go to the airport or railway help desk. Then report what happened in the app.
1. Help happens in public
- Meet and help at the airport, the station, on board, or in the taxi queue.
- Never take someone on a detour to somewhere private.
- Rides home happen only if both people, or the traveller's family, agreed in the chat beforehand.
2. What helpers never do
- Take or hold documents, tickets, boarding passes, phones, cards or cash.
- Carry bags or items they haven't seen packed, or ask a traveller to carry anything for them.
- Ask for payment, gifts, or personal details beyond what the trip needs.
3. Be kind, be honest
- Be respectful. No harassment, hate, threats or unwanted advances.
- Post real journeys with honest details. Use your real name.
- You must be 18 or older to use Samewae. Younger travellers can be posted for by a parent or guardian.
4. Show up, or cancel early
Someone may be counting on you. If your plans change, cancel as early as you can.
- Cancelling within 12 hours of the journey, after you've matched with someone, earns a yellow card.
- A third late cancellation earns a red card: posting and requests are paused until Samewae reviews the account.
5. No business on Samewae
- No commercial taxi services, selling seats, or advertising.
- Sharing costs is fine. Agree it openly and settle it fairly between yourselves. Samewae takes no cut.
6. Women-only journeys
Women can post journeys that only other women see. Members state their own gender; misusing this to reach women-only posts leads to removal.
7. Circles
- Circle admins approve members fairly and don't use member information for anything else.
- Circle admins can see posts shared to their circle, but never anyone's private chats.
- Samewae settles disputes over circles. Official circles of real organisations take priority.
8. Reporting and enforcement
- Report a person, journey or message from the app with one tap. Block anyone at any time.
- The Samewae team reviews reports. We may warn, pause or remove accounts, and we cooperate with the police where the law requires.
- Serious breaches, such as threats, harassment, fraud or endangering someone, lead to immediate removal.
